Wrap-up: December 2020

It’s a new year so I figured, why not shake things up a bit with my wrap-up style. So here we are! Instead of just having my favourite books on here, you get everything I read (a mistake on my part because I read a lot last month), everything I watched, and the music I listened to. Hopefully, this is a bit of a nicer post for you to read then.

A little key:
🐝 = favourite
🕊️ = reread/rewatch/relisten
☀️ = 4 or 5 stars, highly recommend
☁️ = 3 or 4 stars, enjoyed/had fun reading
🌧️ = 2 or 3 stars, was alright/not for me but someone else might enjoy
🌩️ = 1 or 2 stars, bored out of my mind/it was awful

Audiobooks listened to

The Factory Witches of Lowell by C. S. Malerich ☁️
Ruinsong by Julia Ember 🌩️
Death and the Maiden by Samantha Norman 🌩️

A little explanation here: I’m not the best person for audiobooks. I’m too easily irritated by narrators’ quirks and I have to speed it up to 3x normal speed to even keep interested (if I could read it quicker than I could listen, it’s never gonna go well for the audiobook). The Factory Witches of Lowell I enjoyed because it was a novella, so it took an hour to listen to and I was done. The others? Just dragged, to be honest. Particularly Ruinsong, which I think doubly suffered because it was the kind of YA fantasy I would have just skimmed anyway.

Films/TV watched

Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts (S1) ☀️
Schitt’s Creek (S6) ☁️
Kontrola (Christmas special) ☀️
Clockwise (1986) ☁️
Northanger Abbey (2007) ☁️
The Adventures of Tintin (2011) ☁️

Music on repeat

AURORA Forgotten Love
ILLENIUM and Dabin ft. Lights Hearts on Fire
James Smith Say You’ll Stay
Jeremy Loops ‘Til I Found You
Rocketman Orange Coffee

Bishop Briggs Higher
Gryffin All You Need to Know (Orchestral)
AURORA Queendom
The Motans Sigur
The Motans ft. Marea Neagra Saint Loneliness
Pale Waves She’s My Religion

I have a tendency to find a single song I like and just stick it on repeat for days on end, so I really probably only did listen to these 11 songs (plus brief forays into others) for the entirety of December. Though the last one on this list is so good it’ll undoubtedly appear on my January wrap-up too.
